A Puppy Named Peanut

By Brandi Brooke Bable, 7/24/06

When you first come into foster care

It can be very scary,

So you need something you can hug

Something soft and hairy.

When I first came into foster care

I got a stuffed animal, too.

He was a puppy named Peanut

And my favoritest one of my few.

And now I have a ton of stuffed animals

But, Peanut is still the best,

Because he was the one I cried on

So I love him more than the rest.

Prize for the Best Dressed Animal
At a future meeting, the guild will vote on the best dressed animal. The winner will get to take home a custom made Knitting Bag. The bag has 8 different covers so you can be stylish for every Holiday and Season. In the bag are knitting accessories and the book, The Joy of Knitting by Lisa R. Myers.

August & September Meeting!
Dress a Zoo!

During the August, 2006 meeting members will be given the opportunity to take home a stuff animal to dress for Columbiana County's Children's Services.  Children's Services likes to give each child heading to a new foster home a stuffed animal to help them get through that first scary night in a strange place. Wayne and I have been foster parenting for almost ten years and have seen dozens of frightened children be comforted by having a stuffed animal to hug  their first night in our home.  Most children come into foster care with only the clothing on their backs. Being given a toy that is all their own means so much to the kids. Children's Service's budget doesn't permit them to buy the animals and must rely on donations so, the  children often don't get stuffed animals.  Won't you please take the time to dress at least one animal for the kids?
Patterns will be available at the meeting.
